Echoes

100 years of Halifax history. One live orchestra.

An immersive 45-minute multimedia experience, Echoes was inspired by the life of my grandmother, who witnessed many changes in the city during her 92-year life. From the Halifax Explosion to Hurricane Juan, the piece combines historical photography, original footage, and illustrations, with a partially improvised score performed by over 50 musicians and a voiceover performance by acclaimed actor Margot Dionne. Created for Nocturne: Art at Night, it was seen by over 8,000 people during a 6-hour period, and was the highlight of the night for many who saw it.
